Matt is a 24-year employee of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife, who coordinates Ohio’s hunter and trapper education program. He is also the Ohio National Archery in the Schools Program coordinator. During his career Matt has facilitated many events for the Outdoor Education Section, including serving as Co-coordinator of the Ohio Becoming an Outdoorswoman workshops. He has organized in-service training for volunteer instructors and was trained as an NRA rifle, shotgun, and pistol instructor. Matt attended the Remington 870 and 11-87 Armorer Training course, and prior to his time at the Ohio Division of Wildlife, he spent 3-1/2 years as the Wildlife Specialist for the Muskingum County (Ohio) Soil and Water Conservation District. This position was partially funded by a grant from the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Matt was responsible for the identification of wildlife damage primarily on agricultural land and to provide recommendations and solutions to mitigate the damage. As a life-long hunter he enjoys hunting doves, rabbits and whitetail deer with firearms and archery equipment. Matt also enjoys woodworking and leathercraft. He resides on a small farm with his wife Jennifer and his son Zane, who is a junior Animal Science major at The Ohio State University. His oldest son Zac and wife Emily have a daughter, Adeline. Matt looks forward to teaching her to hunt and shoot as he has done with his sons, continuing the tradition.
