Our workshops are very casual and we do not require (or recommend) agency uniforms, dress clothes, etc. Casual jeans, comfortable shirts and outdoor style clothing is recommended. You will be outdoors for a portion of the workshop regardless of weather (provided it is safe to do so!). We also strongly suggest the following items:

  1. comfortable, warm, outdoor field clothing--not too bulky
  2. warm, waterproof, hiking/ work style boots
  3. personal toiletry items
    and if desired:
  4. cap or headband
  5. gloves
  6. rain gear

Be sure to check your workshop location's weather forecast before packing and pack accordingly!

It is neither the intention nor purpose of the CLfT program to convince you to be a hunter, trapper or angler or recruit you in any way.  Our primery purpose is to provide an opportunity for you to learn about, witness, and briefly experience hunting.  Your future personal involvement with hunting is irrelevant and divergent to the primary concern, objective, and goal of the program.  We believe that CLfT will enable you, as you advance in the professional ranks, to have a better understanding of the biological, social, economic and personal values associated with the consumptive use of wildlfe, while also gaining an understanding of the role the consumptive use of wildlife has in wildlife conservation and the natural resources profession.

Once you have been nominated by your agency OR selected through a competitive process you will receive an email asking you to complete our on0line registration form. This form provides you the opportunity to select your desired workshop dates and location.

Once the CLfT Staff has assigned you to a workshop you will receive an email with the dates and location as well as additional information specific to your travel to and from the workshop.

At least 2 weeks prior to your workshop you will receive a final email that provides additional workshop information that includes items to pack, additional forms to complete prior to arrival, etc.

To attend a CLfT Workshop you must first be either a University upper classman or grad student in a Natural Resource program, an employee of a State or Federal wildlife agency who is currently working with CLfT through a cooperative agreement, OR an employee of a Natural Resource related NGO working with CLfT through an agreement.

Individuals who do not fall into one of the categories mentioned above are not currently eligible to attend CLfT Workshop.

Provided you not with an agency/organization that has agreed to cover all travel expenses, you (or your agency) are eligible for reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses.

You will receive an email explaining the reimbursement process just prior to your workshop. Be sure you keep all receipts and follow the directions in the email.

No, CLfT staff have already booked a block of rooms and arranged for all meals during the workshop.

Each facility has cell phone coverage and wifi connection, HOWEVER; coverage is very limited at the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center in Georgia, in the classroom at the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation and in some areas throughout the National Conservation Training Center.
